My story
My name is Jesse Levin and I am a professional cultural chameleon. I have been living and operating in Panama for the past four years until the Earthquake hit Haiti on January 12th. In response I hit the ground within the first week to volunteer for Search and Rescue and medical services for a couple of days. A month later I had worked with everyone from the renowned LOS TOPOS Mexican search and rescue squad to the US Marines. Immediately after terminating search and rescue I teamed up with Mike Stewart, the in country director for Hope For Haiti. The operational tempo, efficiency, and overall ethos of the team are bar none, and I am now serving as coordinator of operations. I will post stories and ramblings in hopes of keeping those interested with insight into a country, which has shattered every one of my pre-conceived notions. The people are incredible and these are some of my experiences with them. I will also speak to development, culture, and other issues associated with the rebuilding process.
